2000 durango trans, slipping
Well this is getting offtopic... my point was he said he had the 4.7l, so he should have the 45rfe, and a couple posts up you told him he had the 42re. I was just making sure he was given the right info!
But back to being offtopic, the 45rfe is a "fully electronic" transmission, meaning instead of the old school governor and throttle valves, shifting is controlled by solenoids. The 545rfe is a 45rfe that has an extra overdrive.
The 42re and 46re are the 42rh and 46rh with an electrically controlled hydraulic governor valve instead of the mechanical hydraulic governor valve. That was really the only difference. The 42rh, also called an a500, is a torqueflite 998 with an electronic overdrive unit in it's tail. The 998 was a 904 in a 727 case. The 46rh, also called an a518, was a torqueflite 727 with an electronic overdrive unit in it's tail.
I know nothing about the 44re.

Anyway the user specified he has a
Your Durango needs ATF+4 fluid but I see you used ATF+3. It is ok but I would do a change in the next 15k miles. You need to adjust the bands and or the shift linkage, tho and so you need to drop the trans pan to do it. Ideally the time to replace the fluid with ATF+4.
How do I adjust the bands? I dont know much about trans.I changed the fluild with type 4 today and put lucus trans stuff in it. It was sappose to help it from slippin..didnt work...now its not wantin to shift down and reverse isnt wantin to work right...so any sagestions.....thanks for all the help
Lucus is not recomended! It is an additive that is not regulated like herbs.

I notice on the owners post 3 and 4, that he had a 318 engine then on post 4 he looked and said he had 4.7L. The 4.7L has a 45RFE or 545RFE, there are no band adjustments. But is the mil lite on? The 5.2 has the 42/44RE trans and there are two band adjustments. Use only ATF+4 fluid. When drop the pan inspect for any dubris.
Back on topic.
ok....the check eng. light came on today...i turned the key to start 3 times and it gave me code 0700.....now it wont **** to 1st or it wont down shift by itself...and wont go to overdrive...what could it be?
