Default what should oil pressure read during normal acceleration?

Today my wife called me and said the oil pressure gauge was reading really high but not pegged. I'm going to check it out tonight and see exactly where it is. I'm hoping I don't have some sort of restriction going on. See said she didn't hear any engine noise at all

FROM HAYNES MANUAL

CHAPTER 2 PAGE 2B-2

OIL PUMP

MIN PRESSURE AT CURB IDLE 6 PSI
OPEARTING PRESSURE 30-80 PSI AT 3000 RPM

Hope this is a good starting point.

mine fluctuates, as long as it stays between the two hash marks i wouldnt worry about it, mine fluctuates between them based on engine speed temperature ect ect

yeah my oil gague moves from the lowest mark when in idle to the highest when driving. Dont know what it is but no problems so far.
additional note, my durango was sitting for about six months w/o moving outside in Oregon weather. I dont know if that may be part of the issue.

If you just had the oil changed they could have put 10W-40 instead of 10W-30 in it and that can do it.

In your case change the oil with 10W-30 is you haven't done that already.

Thanks for all the replies. It turns out that she noticed its running slightly higher. It's well within the two lines and no where near the 110psi mark. It's pretty impressive that she noticed such a small change. I looked at it pretty close last night and it does seem to be acting a little differently but I don't think I ever would have noticed. I did recently change the oil and I'm certain that I used 10W-30. I checked the oil level and it's just slightly over the full line so maybe that has something to do with the slight pressure change. I would say we're well within the 30-80psi range. Thanks Magic84.

There's a lot of things I need to do to this car. I don't want "replacing the engine" to be one of them!

I dont get all the credit, Some of the credit goes to the mechanics, photographers and technical editors at Haynes, I just know how to read and transcribe.
