Default Chrome touch up paint for lettering

Hey guys, maybe someone else has been down this road. Most of the lettering on the Durango looks pretty good. A few of the letters need a little work.

Instead of replacing the letters, I was wondering if any of you have ever masked them off and used some chrome touch up paint to make them look good. Or if that's the wrong way to go, what is a better way? I'd rather not have to put on new letters.

Paint brand? Color code? Application method?

I have yet to see any paint that comes close to chrome plating without looking like a high gloss silver. I have looked at the so called paint anodizing but then again, it looked just like that, paint. The chrome is a plating process that actually plates a product and not paint it, therefore, you would have a real hard time coming even close to matching the factory plating.

Precisely what I was afraid of. I guess the only option is to replace the letters that need replacing or leave them as they are. From the looks of things, each letter in Durango is a separate decal/letter. Hopefully my short experience in graphic design and boat painting will allow me to do a bang up job on the placement.

Any leads on a source for new letters that match that size/font/color?

I'll check with the dealer down the street tomorrow. I gotta see if I can get a new keychain beeper deal anyway. The only one I could find on eBay wanted 45 bucks for it. Ouch!

Happened to me as well, probably from the cold winters in Alaska, but I ended up just replacing the emblem altogether. (although I remember it was kind of pricey)

I would go with your original suggestion of the chrome touchup paint. They sell it at http://www.automotivetouchup.com
