Default Transmission Problem?

I have a 2000 Durango & am having what i think is the transmission "slipping" going from 2nd to 3rd gear....but ONLY when the engine is cold for the 1st ten minutes or so of driving. It usually shifts around 2000rpm, but when this problem occurs, it revs up to around 3000 to 4000 rpm then shifts. I haven't done anything yet, other than checking fluid level and for leaks (which there are none). Just seeing where people might think i should start. Thanks

When was the last time the trans fluid and filter were changed? That is usually a good place to start.

I thought i would join the party. str8money first of all Welcome to the forum. If you have the 4.7L motor, then you have a 45RFE transmission. There is a TSB to replace both transmssion filters. If you or any of the member would like a copy of the TSB, just send a pm with an email address to send it too. Should also ck to see if you have any flash updates for the transmission.

Str8:

Also..... If you have the 318 or 360 motor, then your trans which would be the 44re or 46 re which both have bands to be adjusted when that fluid/filter change is done.

Many, many folks never get the bands adjusted, and then wonder why the trans quit working.
