NO on both. I'm just saying that even heavy duty trucks break stuff with a plow on them. We have several 1 tons with plows also and they are breaking all the time. I know that proves both sides of the coin, that Durango's are light duty at best, but that heavy duty stuff will break just as much. Personal use plowing, and maybe a few other driveways , from my research should prove to be acceptable with the Rango. EDITED TO ADD : If I could actually find someone who had a plow on a Rango and was not happy it might make me think twice, but the only complaints I have found in a year of research has been from guys that don't use a Rango to plow.

For someone that is looking for a light use, personal plow, check out one of these SnowSport Plows. They are inexpensive and just use a front (or rear) receiver to connect up the plow. If I was looking to plow just my personal driveway and maybe a few neighbors (let them chip in!), I would seriously consider one of these.

BTW, if you look around on YouTube you will find several videos of some guys that have used inexopensive winches (Harbor Freight for instance) and made a frame to lift these plows up and make them more efficient.

Here is a link to a YouTube Video
I have no affiliation whatsoever. Just thought they were neat.

Thanks dying, also Dakota's and Durangos are pretty much the same vehicle mechanically. Just a different body.

Got er done on Monday and was plowing yesterday with it. I have no doubt it can and will handle this plow with ease. I cranked the torsion bars the 8 turns and it barely drops an inch when the plow is raised. Also rides like it did with stock ride height with no plow. Gas mileage was the same ( drove 140 miles from home for plow install ) @65 on the NYS Thruway empty and with plow. The engine temp was same and the truck never knew the plow was there , unless a hard braking action was required. I have all new upgraded brake stuff on order and suspension upgrades as well. I might spring for Timbren bags if I feel the need after the new shocks are installed .

Good luck I'm sure you will be happy. Great truck for driveways. So far I've done about 300 driveways this year alone. Been plowing for 14 years with my Dakota and Durango. Slow and easy is the name of the game.
