Durango question
I have a 2000 dodge durango 4.7 V8
I have been experiencing issues when I idol for a bit of time in park (p) my RPM goes between the 0 and lower and gradually drops down to "almost" shutting off then shoots up (revs) and stays on the 0, now my mechanic said it was my O2 sensor so I fixed that needless to say $200 bucks later that wasn't the issue. Then he fixed another part idol sensor pressure something or other. Again $170.00 bucks later that wasn't the issue either.
I am begging anybody to please steer me in the right direction before I dump more needless money in my truck!

I would say the IAC and clean the Throttle Body. The other thing it could be is a bad TPS. You can check this by monitoring the middle wire with a good multimeter to ground and watch for fluctuation.
you cant use carb cleaner to clean the tps, its not even inside of the throttle body, it is a rotary sensor mounted on the butterfly valve shaft, outside of the throttle body. as the throttle cable (gas pedal) is tightened, the butterfly valve opens, which turns the TPS, which tells the computer how far open the valve actually is. nothing to clean, if its acting up it needs to be replaced.

Well just had the TPS changed and still the same problem. My mechanic seems to think it is my computer board in my truck. When he changed out the O2 sensor he showed what had happened and the sensor was burnt to hell and so was the wiring. He seems to think it traveled so far up that it ruined my computer board.
