I'd guess they're electrically actuated by that point, but you need to go ask in the ram section.

Default 02 Durango AC issues

My AC blows hot in front but cold in back
Checked all the actuators and the blend door isnt stuck and moves freely. Found out that my blower motor resistor was bad and changed that and connectors. Had Freon levels checked and they were fine. Any ideas?

wow, no response in this thread in a while. I have a question/issue(s) that I HOPE someone that knows something about these will see, and answer for me.
I have an 01 Durango with a 360 (Not an R/T) 258K miles. Has both front and rear heat/AC, and dual zone temp. Very recent engine replacement, trans and suspension overhauls. just getting it back on the road.
also had to replace the computer "just" before the engine and transmission work. (just for background info) truck has been my "garage ornament" for 3 years, have ~200 miles on truck since bringing it back to life.
I had seen something in here at one point, and cannot find it now.
I have the blinking rear defrost light that is driving me nuts. I am looking for the reprint of the factory service manual page that talks about the HVAC door and actuator relearn test/procedure pertaining to the factory Mopar DRB scanner. Can anyone help me? I cant get my compressor to come on so that I can finish recharging, and I was told that this "relearn" has to happen before the computer will turn on the AC clutch so I can finish charging.

also... I went by a dealer 2 blocks from work, been talking to the Sr. tech there, hadn't heard of this particular relearn (or "forgot" it existed?) but has been there, since before these Durangos came out. He mentioned another "cold sweep" relearn/test and suggested that maybe this was what I was referring to, but said that there had to be enough Freon in the system for the AC to at least "try" to work. sounds like a "catch 22" to me.
I took the Durango there today after I got off, and the Dealer tech brought out the DRB into the parking lot to try and help me, but we ran into a problem. He found the "relearn" that I was talking about within the DRB, and we tried to launch the test, 2x. The readout came back with a code, something about a mode door in the rear heat/AC that was not responding. The blend door actuator in back was working fine, but watching the screen, and the parameters for actuator position, he could tell that the blend door was working as it should but that the mode door had not budged.
this problem in the REAR A/C would not let the test run and relearn the FRONT AC actuators..... and now that we tried to do this relearn, now I have 2 flashing lights on, on the dash. the one for the rear defrost and the one on the "snowflake" button (turn on/off AC) are both flashing.
Dealer tech suggested doing whatever I had to in order to force the clutch to activate, such as jumping the low pressure cutout switch (been there, done that more than once and it didn't work. I'm thinking of unhooking compressor clutch wiring and jumpering right from the battery to the compressor clutch itself just to activate the compressor so I can get it to take the charge.... getting the clutch to kick in is exactly what I am trying to get to happen by doing the relearn, in the 1st place (besides getting the LED's to stop blinking)

I have a brand new HVAC actuator here at home, for the front under dash HVAC at the time I got that, I was told that all of the ones under the dash were the same as each other, back when I bought that actuator/ the tech could not tell me if the front actuators and back ones would interchange. I'd have to go by the parts counter and find that out....

Does anyone know anything about the rear part of the HVAC system? How hard is it to get at these actuators in the back of a Durango? are front actuators and back actuators the same?

the service manual, in it entirety is available in the FAQ thread (its for a 2002 or 2003, but should be 99% the same for the 2001), have a shot at it and you should be able to find what you need there.

as for the rest of whats going on, i unfortunately dont have any experience with to help, sorry.

Default Ahhh ... good now I have a place of reference to start

I'll be taking a look this time.. ... good now I have a place of reference to start as my memory isn't that good of what was done...The Diverter Valve... that was early on, the EVAP was later...
Now I remember seeing fluid on one of lines that runs under the right side (past the wheel well and along the frame) assuming for the rear A/C so that would be a good place to start to look for my leak

The drain should come out through the firewall on the passenger side of the truck, you SHOULD be able to clean it out with a piece of wire coat hanger, but alot of people had no clog and the problem was caused by air pushing the water back into the hose as you drive, putting a 90 degree elbow on the end to point it down will solve the problem
