Thanks sharp..back in the shop a few hours already as I await their prognosis .. I didn' see the drier or accumulator on the bill so I'm assuming they weren't replaced .. if they recommend/this at least I won't feel I'm getting screwed .... will update..THANKS, jim
Well it came down to this.... they ended up turning the individual front climate controls to hot then cold a few times.. something about the system not having a benchmark in it memory as to what was what.. I guess from all the work done everything somewhere along the line got cleared.. 51 degrees on low at the vent works for me..hope this helps others .. and thanks again for the info !

Hey guys I dont have a durango but I have a 5.2 99 Dodge Ram. This is the most helpful thread I have found so I hope you guys can help me out.
I lost cold air flow a few weeks back and blamed a leak or low freon. I checked the low pressure port and it says its overcharged.
I connected a gauge to the low port. The compressor kicks on and off every 10 seconds. I check the pressure and it will kick off after 50 psi and on at 15.
The problem is that we havent added freon to it since we bought it about 11 years ago.
The large hose from the compressor to the black cylinder feels like its pressurized and the aluminum tube that runs from the black cylinder around the driverside fender is very cold about 3/4 of the way before it hits the High Pressure port. Then it gets back to warm temperature.
The a/c blower and controls work fine. Ive check the fan clutch and compressor clutch and they are both functioning. As soon as I disconnect the sensor on top of the black cylinder or aluminum tube above the compressor the pressure will rise into the red above 55psi.
The air is still warm at idle, cruising, and highway speeds. The black cylinder used to get very cold and now it remains warm. I believe there is a clog somewhere but dont know where to begin.

I have a 99 dodge durango with a 5.9 the ac is charge the clutch kidded on for just a short now it wont turn on what so ever i unhooked the power wire to it an ran wires to the battery an it kicked on then so do u guys think my switch went bad?
Hi all,I'm trying to identify the sensor on the passenger side radiator support, in front of the radiator/condensor. Anyone know what it is? It is broken/melted, and I don't know what to ask for to order a new one.
Thanks in advance!
Did you check/replace the expansion valves.
Replaced both on my unit, fixed the same problem
You will need to evacuate the system before replacing.
Also shut down the hot water line to the front coil, added 20 degrees of cooling
even with the blend door working properly.
I will post a pic tomorrow of the PEX valve/ location to shut off the hot water flow.

Sounds like the ambient temperature sensor for the overhead console.
Next time you should start a new thread or at least post in a relevant thread so that the mods won't roast you for it

Hi all,
