I got my 2001 4.7 SLT with infinity, 4x4, and tow package for 4200. Only problems: bad clock spring = no airbag/steering wheel controls/horn.

WOW!! You got screwed royally. You didnt even get a 4x4 and to top it off, it needs about 1500 in repairs.

Even with it only being 6 years old when purchased, $8k really sounds ridiculous especially with the repairs it needed, and it only being RWD. Did it have super low miles, a body kit/ lift, or something that made it valuable? If not, "screwed royally" sounds about right.

Recently I bought my 03 Black R/T with 87K for $7,000. No rust dents or scratches. Paint was dull, but I got it buffed for $150. The chrome wheels are excellent, no curb rash. I did spend about $1,500 for tires, exhaust, speakers, shocks, tune up, belt. So you might say I paid $8,500 for a really nice R/T.

I paid 20K out the door for my 1 owner 01 SLT Plus 4.7 which was loaded in 2003 with 25K on it.

My current 2004 SLT Hemi had 53K and was also a one owner. Just over 13K out the door in March of 2010.

Although I love the Hemi, I should have never sold the 01!

Purchased my 00 Durango Sport 4.7 4X4 at 62,000 miles in the summer of 2008 , when gas prices were at like $4.20 a gallon for $5,000. Im convinced the dealer could not move this gas guzzler for to save his life. I got the price down from his asking of 8k so I was and am still amazed and very pleased!

I paid $6500 for a 2003 SLT 4.7 loaded with DVD. Its got 106k KM (65k miles) and needs nothing. Its in absolute pristine condition except for the durango and slt logos. They are peeling and need to be replaced.

The badge peeling is normal, I need some of them myself.
