What did you pay for your Durango?

I just bought 2000 'Rango SLT 5.9 at the beginning of this month for $6,000 from a private seller. It only had 69,100 miles on it & the guy gave me every single receipt of what he had done to it. The interior is immaculate & looks brand new inside. It does have some small dings & scratches on the exterior & some rusting on the underbody (to be expected in Michigan!), but overall, I'm hoping I got a good deal. It has a Sony stereo, tow hitch & sunroof that the guy had installed. This is my third 'Rango (the other ones were a 2002 & a 2004, which I hated that body style of!), so I knew I wanted an older one to drive in the winter while my 2006 Daytona sits in the garage I only wish I would have found one with a 5.2 instead cause this thing is a major gas hog!!!

Bought a '98 SLT a few days ago for $450, and I have about that much more in it in parts, and need to spend another 3 or 4 hundred at least. Got the front end put together today (mostly) and drove it for the first time. Runs great, and actually drives OK considering the tires on it aren't any better than tubes, and then of course also considering the front end damage. Haven't decided for sure whether I'll keep it, but I gotta say...it's about like any other Mopar I've ever owned: It has a wonderful excess of power.

$3000. I was without wheels and made an impulse buy. Should've consulted Kelly blue book. 2002 4.7 4WD. 200k miles, no radio, no driver side mirror....the finance company got their hooks into me. I checked the transmission fluid again after driving about 10 miles and it had gone from full to nothing on the dipstick. I neglected to inspect the color of the coolant before making the purchase. It was red. Not even coolant. Straight water mixed with tranny fluid. I guess they forgot to tell me that part. Put in a new radiator. Did the transmission filters. Brakes. Oil change. New fluids all around. New power mirror. Junkyard radio. Don't bother telling me I got hosed. I already figured it out. I really do like the damn thing though. Nicest rig I ever owned.

Got my '99 D for $2400. Had $1000 worth of new tires, a full tune-up including the serpentine belt and a PCM ($437.62), 6 new speakers ($200), and a full tank of fuel ($75). Leather is in great shape and the paint is ok from 25 feet away. Starts good and runs good I just wish I could figure out why it seems like its not making the power that it should.

Yeah greasy, what crankbait said.....some of us Durango owners that got ours low dollar and had/have some work to do have the nicest rigs...plus a personal stake in it that no $$ amount equals.....besides,if you like it now imagine what your gonna feel like when you're done tweaking it and have it exactly the way you want it.....

Ya. I'm kinda havin' fun getting the thing fixed up. So far it looks like the differentials are in tip top shape. When I serviced the transmission it looked brand new underneath there. I noticed a couple transmission mounting bolts were missing, so I'm thinking someone forgot to put them back on after installing a new tranny. The engine sounds good and strong. No trailer hitch on the back, so I'm thinking it's had a lot of easy miles.
Still have to find where that damn transfer case vent hose goes. Figure out why the cruise control won't go. Figure out why the electric fan won't kick on. And maybe finally get the AC working before summer.
Ya. All in all, maybe three grand ain't all that much for a Durango that still has some life in it.
