Default 99 Durango Trans problems help!

I had a 99 Durango 5.2 Auto, it start to have trouble shifthing gears, I take it to the mechanic, he said it is the trans selenoid but also he said it was the main computer of the suv that also bad becasue whe he move the plug on the ECU sometime it work perfect, I find one ecu, same number but change the 2 last letters, my was AD the one that I got was AE, He put the other computer ,the SUV wont start, I call the local Dodge dealer and they told me if the key is gray, I have to take it to the dealer for programming the ecu, if the key is black I wont have any problems, I check and my key is black. What can be the problem?? Does it needs programming or the other ECU is bad? Please help on this matter, Thanks in advance.

no matter what if you change the computer you will have to get it programed, it will need your vin #/engine/mileage/and a couple other things

but i doubt your computer is bad from bad shifting, especially on a 5.2, the only gear that the computer directly affects is the overdrive, and moving the plug to get it working would indicate a bad CONNECTION, not a bad computer

Is the new PCM/ECU from another durango or is it a new controller?

The PCM needs to be reprogramed with YOUR information. But you need to re-read Sharp's post ^^^^^^ up there.

Its already to late. The vin number from the other durango can not be removed from the controller. You need to get either a new or reman controller and have it program with your vin.
