Default Tuned port injection swap

Not sure if anyone is familar with tpi (tuned port injection) but basically they were used an fair bit alot in the 80's and early 90's for vehicles gm vehicles that needed to make good torque at an low rpm and still make good mpg. There not for much more then that and the top end sucks via the long runners.

But basically I know some people I can buy an whole tuned port setup off from for an cheap price or even if I wanted to, pull it off of my 87 IROC.

Anyhow will the intake work at all on an 4.7 durango? Would it be an simple intake swap + tune or something much more?

http://www.fuelinjection.com/portinj.html Heres an link explaining an bit more.

Reason why im considering this is if any racing happens with me, its going be something at an stop light and I rarely get the motor over 4k, which is btw right before where the intake would stop flowing but this all can easily be fixed with an little porting.

Say I do do this what would the cost of an decent tune be? And would there be any other things I would need to swap if I did? I know the rate of fuel delivery is fairly high something in the higher 40's I belive.

Thanks. Or is the any other intakes that are made for the 4.7's?

What do you mean by "rate of fuel delivery in the 40s?"

You could use the Delco ECM on the 4.7 with an MPFI intake made for the 4.7 though.

OP, you've got a pretty good engine as it is. If you want to get more oomph, why not install a k&n filter along with a CAI in front and a less restrictive muffler in back? You'll get a better response off the line and a meaner growl.

sorry when i said about the rate of fuel delivery I was just kinda using an term off my head as i couldnt think of the actual, what I think I mean is with tuned port, it requires an high flowing fuel pump compared to carbed engines and what not.

dan, I'll probaly end up doing just that, I was just throwing out an idea as I love torque and thats what TPI delivers.

I kinda made up an homemade ram air I just havent really completed it, but im still deciding if i want to get the hushpower 2 muffler installed or sell it as I can get an decent chunk of $

So is there any decent intakes for torque I should know of?

what about the h.o. intake from the grand cherokes.

Yes, MPFI on most GM vehicles is at 43.5 PSIG, in the late '90s they started going higher to about 55 PSIG.

Ford used 39 PSIG for many years.

Most vehicles I have seen us a pressure somewhere in the 40s PSIG.
