Ya right,

It was standard equipment. If you have a key FOB then you have a security system. If you don't have a key FOB then you need to get one. If you do have a key FOB then I want to see it cause I smell some BS around the corner.....LOL.....

 

Yeah I have a key fob and when I hit locks all it does is honk the horn. I just tested it for everything I could imagine an alarm would deter and nothing. I was inside the truck and locked and opened the door, nothing. I locked again then tried to start the vehicle, started up no problem and no alarm or anything. Also, when I lock the doors there is no security light or anything telling me there's a stock security system.

 

yup sounds about right, there is no security system in my truck, nothing stops it from being started, nothing goes off if you hit the truck while its parked and locked the only thing the remote does is to lock and unlock the doors and activate the panic button, that IT absolutely NOTHING ELSE, no alarm or remote start or anything

 

Open a door without using the key or without using the key FOB after the you press lock with the key FOB! Basically, unroll the window and hit the lock on the FOB. Then walk over to the passenger side door or drivers door and unlock it and open the door. Bet it goes off.


I don't know about a starter disconnect, reminds me of past threads, but I don't fully remember if it shuts it down or not.

 

nope, doesnt set it off i have opened it through the open window in the summer many times with both inside and outside door handle. i also have the factory window sticker around somewhere, ill double check tomorrow but i do not recall seeing anything about an alarm system on there, i think you are wrong.

 

My wife has a 01 Durango and I baught her a Compu Star last year...works real well and you can still use the factory remotes to lock and unlock the vehicle as well as the starter remote. you can also set the run time to 15,20 or 30 minutes and it will automaticly shut off. You can also set it to automatically start every 30 min or every so many hours to keep the vehicle warm or cool for that matter...very happy with it. and it works with the factory alarm...

 

I put an Autopage remotestart/ alarm with paging remote in our 98. Love it. Everything works as it should.

I saw something else on your build sheet as well, the tow group has a 160 Amp Alternator. I wonder if they were installed in the 2000+ versions only? Also never seen them in the stores so I went and looked, SOB your right! I wonder if they can be installed in the 1998-1999's?????

yea i know the alternator question had come up before but i was at school at the time and didnot have the build sheet with me, if you were to check the color code on my truck i believe it would not show up under the 2002 model year, my truck was one of a few (50 i think) that was made in 2002 as a floor model to show off the 'new' color
