Default Front Bump Stop..?

Hello all.
I have a '03 DD 4.7L 4WD and I was looking underneath the front end just outta curiousity and noticed what I assumed to be a front suspension bump stop. I could be wrong, It looks like the rubber housing is all cracked in 2. Are these a DIY kinda thing? and how soon should I look into getting them replaced? Also, anyone have any ideas as to where I might be able to pick up replacements as well? Thanks in advance! :-D

They are called jounces. It's a dealer only part. They come in pairs and last I paid for them was $30. You can take out the old ones by using a long flathead and prying them out of the cup. Make sure you get all the little pieces out cause the new ones need a good seat to be effective. There are little indents around the cup but don't worry about them. Use a mild dishwashing detergent to lube the new jounces and slip them into the cups and you're done. Takes about 5-10 minutes. Hey, I noticed you have some sort of liquid all over your underside. Is that oil or just water?

Hey, thanks DD,..That's a bit of relief. Pretty quick fix job, then. There's a couple Dealerships around here, I can go to about the parts, that shouldn't be a problem. thanks for the tip(s), also. The "liquid" you're seeing, DD, is just wet from snow travel. We got a little bit of it in our area, (Eastern PA), and the white-ish ash stuff is of course, the salt from the roads. But that's all that is, just melted snow.

Just a little tidbit of info; when I found that my jounce bumpers were shot I noticed that they looked identical to the ones on my 1999 Chevy Tahoe. Sure enough, they were! They fit perfectly and have been working great for almost a year now.

There called "bump stops". Dealer only I ordered some for my 2000 durango few months ago. "Front Right/Left Bump Stops - 52106122AA" I am sure your part number will be different. Order them only cause the dealer marks everything up substantially.

Question

I am looking replace the mangled front bump stops on my Durango as well and I found these at numerous places online. They look to be the same as the factory and, from what I see, would not be dealer-only. Am I right or wrong? Not starting anything, just want to know if I HAVE to go to the dealer for them.

when i replaced replaced mine 2.5 years ago the only place to get them was the dealer, the front and rear stops are different.

when i did mine the set of stops were not that bad from the dealer i believe i paid $30 from the dealer for them, i wouldnt waste time pondering if the online store has the correct part (that picture also doesnt look quite right to me), and that site not having a price listed throws up a red flag to me also
