Default Dual air intake

Hey guys so i've seen this dual air intake that some people have been using and i wanted to get your input on them.

its basically a y pipe style intake tube that connects to 2 filters right above the engine bay. its only 50 BUCKS!

I think i'm really gonna buy it.

One more question. i've been running my cheap intake for a while and its working just fine. has anyone ever heard of an air intake being bad a car?

this dual intake is really all for looks.

I can't see the ebay site cause of work filters but if it's taking air from inside the engine compartment, it's not gonna work that well. CAI or cold air induction uses cooler air from the outside of the vehicle to give the engine the "boost" it needs. The hotter air inside the engine doesn't do that. Now if you have a hood that has holes for the install, then it's all good. I've been running an autozone homebrew CAI for some time and it's serving its purpose. Better throttle response and slightly better fuel economy. Not alot but saves some money at the pumps. If your spectre has been working, why mess with it? Oh yeah, what filter are you using? K&Ns are pretty good for my application.

Yeah by the looks of it, it really wouldn't do much difference. By the look of the picture it would be pulling air from the WRONG area you would want your engine air coming from. For $50 I would say the hell with it and give it a shot. It's not like most other air intakes where the cost is up high.

On that note I just though of maybe if you could re route the y system to farther down by the bottom grill portion of your front bumper. Could be a good project and pay off in the longrun n

I'm using the spectre filter as well. i didn't dish out the extra 20 bucks for a K&N at the time which i should have.

yeah i'm really thinking about getting it. i'm talking to this guy online who has this setup on his durango. he says its worth the money and the difference in power is noticeable.

here is a picture of my air intake as it is right now

Don't do it. Look in here https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...wers-faqs.html under Custom Cold Air Intake (CIA)

yea, dont fall for that scam, no better than a single, and probably draws in hot air instead of cold. . .

That spectre air intake you got looks like it's a nice install and doing it's job. Wouldn't change it if I were you either.

i'll just make a heat shield for my cai now.

I was thinking of doing this sometime, I would run one pipe thru the passenger side of the engine compartment like most people do, and then put another somewhere around the driver side headlight, not sure how much of an gain there would be with the one by the headlight but hey its something.

Also does anyone know where I can get an heat deflecting wrap/tape that sticks to plastic? thx

yeah if you run both towards the headlights it'll be better than above the engine for sure.

I was talking to a durango owner who has this dual intake setup right above the motor and he says he gained noticeable power from it.

i said wouldnt it hurt performance? and he said most muscle cars have their air filters right above the motor and most build those for performance.

i thought that was a good. example.
