Default Axle seems a little too small ?

I recently changed my cv axle on the driver side on my 01 Durango, And an interesting clicking sound was noticed today, When I took off the tire to have a check I noticed the axle seemed to have pulled away from the spindle near the transaxle about an inch.
Any suggestions ???

Could be the incorrect CV half shaft. I think the right and left sides are different part numbers for that reason. Double check your part numbers.

Well it seemed reasonable, I mean parts can get mixed some times , so I got another one and put it on........ Clicking is still there .
this time I drove it around to be able to put a better explanation out here. This clicking is coming from the driver side front and is only heard when I accelorate. So I decieded to look elsewere , I noticed the Oil level was very very low.......
I added a couple quarts but clicking remains. Running out of ideas fast on this one !

did you check the trans fluid level? and the fluid level in the transfer case?? if either are low it can create odd sounds

Yes the Cv is fully seated it turned out I was sent the wrong one So I exchanged it and replaced. And I figured out what my clicking sound was..... driveshaft, from transfercase to transmission. Thanks for all your suggestions very helpful !!
