Default ...Durango info...

Hey ajoshi91, you can go to your local Dodge dealer and give them your vehicle id number and they will print you a spec sheet for your D, it"s free and it will give you your gear ratio, diff status etc. ...kingoftow

I'm asking this out of curiosity. which dodge engine is louder? the 4.7l, 5.2l or 5.9l?

I'm asking this because i met a guy on youtube with a 360 durango with the exact same muffler as me. he says my 4.7l is just as loud as him with basically the same setup. (his just sounds better lol)

well his exact words were "I know your durango is louder" i had a single flowmaster super 10 and that small high flow cat i told you guys about. the cat did make it louder but not a HUGE amount so now I'm curious. what do you guys think?

which one is loudest? or how would you rank them?

I always thought the 5.2l/318ci sounded pretty good. and i figured the bigger the motor then louder it would be?

I DONT PLAN ON CHANGING MY EXHAUST! *just in case 45autopete is around lol

I personally thought the loudness was about the same, but as far as the sound, I think my 5.9 sounds the best out of the bunch. It's got that NASCAR sound when your deep on the throttle but has that real nice rumble when its at idle.

No matter who you ask, pretty much everyone is going to have a completely different opinion when it comes to this. The 4.7 and the 5.9 have two completely different sounds IMO though.

Yeah? those 5.9's do sound good. but when i think of sound and loudness i look at it to ways. one way is how it would sound with no muffler and a cat. and the other if it had a flowmaster original 40 or super 44 muffler. so aggressive/common muffler and no muffler.

But you think they are all about the same volume? interesting. I've always been told the 4.7l are pretty quiet compared to the 360. though I've never been able to compare in person all three engines.

and it seems the bigger the better. as far as sound goes but thats not always true.

Correct. That's not always true because I'm not sure if you've heard it, but a buddy of mine had a truck just like hydras, with the 8.0 V10, and I really didn't care for te sound with mufflers on it. It just sounded weird to me.

The 4.7 can be as loud, but it's the rumble that counts. I can still have a conversation standing next to mine, but feel it shake your insides.

The real fun is having a sleeper under the hood. You know, that rust bucket that is quiet but just tore a Camaro a new a**. Thats fun. The facial expression's are priceless.

yeah? i hear ya guys. well my exhaust is pretty loud and has a decent rumble to it. but its somewhat quiet at idle. i need a good high flow cat or no cat and some shorties just for the sound. well i probably wont dish out the money for those. lol

Just going throw in my 2 cents, for the 4.7, the idle in my honest opinion is pretty week sounding, almost kinda buzzy sounding haha, but once you start rippin into it, it gets an REALLY deep rumble to it that just screams, and makes a quite bit of noise, expecially if you romp on it right around 2500 if I remember, she just will push me into the seats and your off haha

Would really like to hear an 360 with cam, full exhuast, intake, and a custom tune lmao
