Default No Reverse...

Ok basicly last week i decided that id fix the tsb for the valve booster cover, so after getting that done, i took it for a test drive, shifting smoother, felt some get up and go just all around good thing. Where as before it would almost slip at times a few hundred rpms like off on off on as i understood it in the tsb the torque converter was engaging and disengaging because of the valve booster cover. So anyway after the test drive, i was happy went to take it out of the drive way and i had no reverse its like its in neutral.

I checked the linkage by putting the car in park, disconnecting linkage and using my hand to put it in reverse and still nothing. It almost hints like it wants to be but nothing....

Now after i installed everything after my work above, i had the linkage off so park was reverse, reverse neutral, neutral, drive etc... so i fixed the linkage, but prior to that and i dont know if this has anything to do with it but i drained the transmission cooler, but i left that connection off when i started the car and put the fluid back on. I left the car in park (really reverse) for a few minutes before i realized the pool of fluid in the front of the car. So i shut it down, connected the cooler and refilled my fluid. Went on that test drive i spoke of all was good.

OK if you have followed that...ive done some research and it engages in drive just fine though i havent driven it since i couldnt backup. I dont want to do any further damage and im thinking that after some reading that i may have busted that snap ring in the od unit. Im gonna drop the pan again tomorrow and see if i see any parts any advice?

It helps to include the actual TSB you are talking about?

Next I would go directly to master tech

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/21-11-00.htm was the original problem, and when i took off the booster valve cover, the hole was twice the size of the new one that was supposed to be the fix. Each side of the existing cover was different sized both bigger then what was supposed to be there. I dont know if someone before me decided to try to manually fix the problem insteading of breaking the bank with a $4 part and drill it?

Anyway new part in, shifted great after the new cover was on, no slipping or anything...

So you fixed the issue?

What motor, year, and drive train do you have?

original issue fixed..... Now current issue is i have no reverse, it doesnt even seem to engage. Ive checked linkage by manually getting under the car and going thru gears.

I have a 2001 dodge durango R/T 5.9L 46re transmission. I just drained the fluid gonna drop the pan i have a gut feeling im gonna find a snap ring somewhere between the valve body or pan. Seems to much like this guys issue but would like some possible insight if anyone has any...

ok so i dropped the pan, and the rocker arm that has the rear band adjustment on it moves and there is no apparent end to adjusting that band. I believe thats the rear servo piston, but its pretty high up there, as far as the pan there were a few black particles but that was it.

You mean the strut is gone and the reverse servo can not apply the rear band?
