Default paint ? any advise would be great

I'm starting to get rust discoloring along the bottom of the body where the panels are welded together. the front bumper is rusting as well. eventually i will replace the bumpers with kennesaw ones. what would be the best way to prep the bumpers (for now) and the body (from the molding down to fix? i won't to rhino line all the above but would like input on whether or not it's a good idea. thanks.

i like the rhino liner idea for both places, the important part whichever way you decide to go (diy rhino line, pro rino liner, or paint) the prep work is key, if you prep it correctly (clean it, sand off the rust, clean it again, sand it some more (finer grits) clean it, primer then paint (or w/e the rhinoliner calls for))) it should hold up fine if the prep is done correctly

I'm worried about moisture bacause this work will be done at home. when cleaning it would i use rubbing alcohol? or is there a better way to completely dry it out right before painting it?

Get after it now the longer you wait the more damage is being done. I have put off bodywork on my monte since I bought it and now it is going to take a LOT more work because I waited.

i use paint thinner to clean off btwn sanding and the painting step, but make sure you are using a primer that is NOT soluble in the thinner otherwise you will take it off before you put the paint on (not good)

I like to us the Sherwin Williams automotive primer. Also I would recommend using a tack cloth between sandings before the primer too along with a lacquer thinner or like reducer.

Make sure you sand off all that rust bootee using bondo or it will break very easily. As far as that rust before bondo is applied I personally like to use #000 steel wool as it does a good job roughing up the surface but doesn't pull off paint where you don't want it too.

Also, there is a product I use a lot called Por-15 and it works as a great rust cover up and prevented. With that stuff you just sand it off and pain over it and have not had any customers come back complaining. Works as a great primer or topcoat.

Yep I would recommend above 50 at least and the ideal temp for urethane based paint is 73* and lacquer based is around 76*.

Make sure you don't get no dust in those primer coats either!! Good luck.

And be in a well ventilated room or garage. The fumes will be deadly if they accumulate.
