Default no brake lights

backed into the driveway last night, the reflection of my brakelights shone on the vehicle i backed up to. this morning on my way to getting some football snacks, somebody pulled up to me to tell me i had no brakelights.
back at home, i checked the fuse block. curious-no fuse marked brakelights. the taillights work, the backup lights work, the signal lights work. in every combination. just no brakelights, including center rear high mount (3rd) brakelight.
there is no trailer light setup on this truck, wires are untouched.
is there a fuse for this somewhere? anything else to look at the would give me all lights but brakelights?

Got pulled over the other night for no brake lights. In my case it turned out to be a plug working its way loose. Look up near the top of the brake pedal, where the brake light switch is. There's a wiring harness that plugs in there. Mine had worked loose somehow.

Your problem could be a fuse or something else, but I just thought I'd throw this out there since it seemed pretty non-obvious to me, I would have never thought of it except I was checking the wires on my (non-functional) remote start....

right after i posted, i had to run out real quick..so i slid under the steering wheel & lo & behold.....nothing attached. the plug appears to be plugged into a tiny plastic box that HAD a spring in it & slipped over a rod. something i guess is broken because i found the spring on the floor mat, a clip appears to spin on the rod & if i 'test' slide the box onto the rod, there seems to be nothing to hold it to the rod.
will look again tomorrow, any suggestions of what goes how or what may have broken or does the clip have to be turned just right to hold the little 'box' on or.....?

Hmm...

Based on your description, I'm not sure what you're seeing. It may be the plug that I was talking about, it my be the switch that the other guys were talking about, I'm just not sure...

How big is this rod you're talking about? If it's really tiny, then I'd say your brake light switch has fallen apart.

If it's bigger than about half an inch, then I have no idea....

Exact same thing happened to me on my old '88 Trans-Am I had. They are just cheap made, simple as that.
