No heat and its -20 HELP!!!!
So my heat has been weird ever since day one. When I bought the old girl after 30 miles of driving from the dealer the heat went. If someone kicked there feet around the wiring it would come back on. It no longer does this and its -20 out today in vermont. I took her up to the shop and dicked around and found a yellow ground wire that is not hooked up to anything. I don't know where this goes and was wondering if anyone knew where the hell this thing goes. I think this is my problem. If someone could tell me that would be great. I'll post a picture to show ya whats going on.
pull it to its full length and search anywhere in that radius
its a ground alright but its signs of some butchery
looks to me from the ground distribution chart the blower motor is grounded thru the heater controls
dp you got voltage at the connector?

I haven't checked voltage yet. I'm really looking for a wiring diagram that shows me where the hell this wire is supposed to go. its -10 right now and gonna be -20 by morning to Im hoping to get this fixed soon haha. do you know where to get a good wiring diagram? like that ground distribution chart you spoke of? I'm pretty sure it is the blower motor, just dont know where it goes. Thanks for the help also, you are saving my life haha like literally ha if I have to drive for more then 20 minutes tomorrow I risk getting frost bite haha
First, if it's a ground wire, then it really doesn't matter where it goes. Just attach it to part of the frame and it'll be grounded again.
Hemi4spd said that he felt it was a sign of "butchery". If this is indeed a leftover from some aftermarket component that has been installed (and then maybe removed), then you need to look into that, and any other wiring it may have affected. This might not be the only wire that's having problems.
I understand your urgency with the temps your having. I'm the biggest wuss in the world when it comes to being cold. To be 100% honest with you, I'd be driving straight to a shop with it unless I had a heated garage to work in. I would personally consider a wiring problem to be a fun challenge if it was 70 outside, but when it's below zero? Nah, I wouldn't even screw with it.

i agree, factory ground wires will almost certainly be black, not yellow, that was added by the previous owner, it could go anywhere and without seeing the truck personally it will be hard to figure out, you need to do just like was stated above, stretch it out and see what is in range of that if its a broken wire, or a plug w/ a missing wire ect.
