You're correct but if you're going to put a loud single chamber muffler on the 4.7 is a bit like puting a loud muffler on a 4 cyl Honda.

Didn't say exactly but it just ain't the same as puting a decently loud powerful muffler on a 5.9 engine.

That muffler is just going to make you "that guy" in my book that's waking me up at 3 in the morning.

Yeah, you're right! My dad has a 2003 Ram 1500 4.7l with a Flowmaster 40 and it's perfect, it might be louder than a normal day-to-day vehicle, but it's not **** loud and it's not quiet. I just wanted the Flowmaster 10 because it's the same engine and I've gotten used to the Flowmaster 40 on my dad's and so I just want louder ! If I put a Flowmaster 10 on your 5.9l, that would be just obnoxious haha! But I've heard many videos on mine and it sounds just where I want it to be! I'll post videos though!

Absolutely correct, which is why only idiots do it.

Unless you're building a pure off-road vehicle and trailering it to the mud bog, have a little common sense and courtesy and keep the noise to a reasonable level.

To each there own. Alot depends on where one lives. What i have and could do, won't fly in a city or suburban type setting. Now where i live, it's an everyday thing. 3/4 of this town has some form of pipes. Everything from quiet to replacing windows.
Theres loud and there's rumble. Rumble sounds good. Straight pipes sound bad (not the cool bad either). Chevy has a really annoying BAP BAP BAP sound from straight pipes. Glasspacks are louder than that 10 series.
I've had 4 different systems on mine, and i'm really liking the 40 series on the 5.9. It rumbles at idol and sounds like nascar at 4k rpm.

Agreed.

The Flowmaster 40 is most likely what is going on mine in a few months here. It's got a nice, deep sound, can get loud when you're on that gas, but most importantly, you can ease off the gas and keep the noise under control when pulling into town in the middle of the night (This is what I mean by keeping the noise to a reasonable level. It's ok to get loud out on the open highway, but at least retain the ability to quiet her down when the situation calls for it).

My main complaint isn't so much with loud exhaust itself, but with the reasoning behind it. The type of person who says "I just want it louder" is generally the same type of idiot that wakes me up at 6 am running down my street with straight pipes at full throttle.

I have the a MagnaFlow HF CAT and a CAT back system with the 40 series and it's exactly what I want. It's a very nice combination of keeping to myself while I'm rolling thru a neighborhood, and letting people know I have 360 cubic inches of engine under my hood when I'm rolling in town or on the highway.

IMO, I can agree, if you're out in the country, have fun with anything goes, but you're going to be "that guy" I you step one foot in any neighborhood. Doing what I do as a mechanic, I have a trailer that I pick up cars from the customers house on a flatbed trailed with a winch, at 5 in the morning before they head out to work.

IMO, I believe it would be nice if everyone had a toy and their vehicle they commute with. As for me, I have a '00 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually with the Cummins, turbo silencer ring removed, with stacks out the bed, no muffler. This is what I use when I want to raise hell, not my truck I drive everywhere in neighborhoods.

I promise you your Durango with the eye popping exhaust still doesn't hold a note to my Ram, but like bowhunt said, To each their own!

I agree, but only up to the point where I can't sleep or hear my TV inside my own house.

I respect people's right to do what they want to their vehicle, all I ask in return is that they have a little respect for my right to enjoy a little peace and quiet when I'm trying to sleep after a long, hard night at work.

Oh yeah, you guys are right in the noise part! I don't ever go around just ripping it around my street because you don't ever **** where you eat, that's what I believe in. I love the sounds of the Flowmaster and I just wanted something louder since I got used to the 40 series which IMO is the best for noise, not too loud but definitely not quiet either :P. The second one of my neighbors complains, I'll easily remove it and put the stock one on. My town doesn't really go after loud mufflers, they don't really care, as long as you're not doing something stupid to attract the attention. I drive casually but if on occasion if a douche cuts me off going 100 mph then slows down to 10 mph there's no guarantee that I'll keep the noise down !

I like the 3", single 24" muffler, MagnaFlow cat back system. Not to loud just a nice low grunt.
