Default Alternator

Ya, I had noticed the Third page too... That was not the place where I downloaded the almost complete 2000 or 2002 Manual... So I used your links to get the two files I was missing from the 2000 version then went back and noticed that I had been there looking before and did not dig deep enough to find the files myself...

BTW, I had asked earlier up in the thread if having the Towing Package or Heavy Duty Service Group would bump the alternator size from the 136 amp version that is listen in my build sheet... Any thoughts?

Tow package does include the higher amp alternator, however the HD group does not include the higher amp one. I know this because mine has the HD group but not the tow package and just had the 136 in it.

Thank you guys,

I found it confusing on my build sheet since it calls out the Tow Package first then down further shows the 136 amp alternator... Like this:

On the 98-00, 136amp is correct with the tow package. Shrp is incorrect above. There is no factory option for 160 on a 98-00.

From post 39 on, this needs to be in a new thread and not jumbled into the battery thread.

Hey, it's my thread and I got the answers I was looking for way back... No worries.

That said, since all these posts stick around for a long time, it's nice to have things organized so new people can find the info more easily, so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have an alternator discussion in its own thread with a fitting title. Most folks with these same alternator question probably wouldn't think to look under a post with "battery suggestions" as the title.

So how does one go about putting those posts into a new thread about alternators with or without tow packages?
