changing the heater core is a real pain.. you'll be better off trying to flush it first.. both the heater core and the blend door you'll have to take out the entire dash to work on.. very expensive for a shop or a full weekend job(and i mean all 48 hours) if you do it yourself... run the garden hose threw it first..

Definitely try the flush first.

Not only is removing a dash a huge PITA, but in my experience removing them in the past due to the huge number of screws and bolts involved this job is more prone than most to producing "left over parts". Meaning that if you're not EXTREMELY careful you can end up with things producing an annoying rattle when you're done.

Haven't done a Durango dash yet, but there are two of them in my near future...

My '99 had this issue.

Heater core was clogged, I flushed it out and it made no difference, though a ton of crap came out of it. Still blew slightly warm air, and in the winter was almost useless enough to not defrost the windshield.

I fear replacing it is your only real solution.
