98 Durango issues
I have a 98 Durango with 189K on it 5.2 V8. I have some issues with it.
1) ABS light and parking brake light come on after hitting a bump to hard,
I replace the speed sensor on the rear axle and it still comes on.
2) Step on the accelerator and engine races and slows a little bit and races again before shifting.
Had the transmission serviced today and the tv cable moves the throttle lever on the trans and the throttle body simultaniously.
What are other possible causes for these and the fixes for them. My next step is the TPS sensor for the shifting issue and the speed sensor on the trans. There is no check engine light coming on either and the last time codes where there was on Mon indicating a cylinder misfire.

the abs light coming on when you hit a bump really sounds to me like a loose connection, most likely a ground, i would start tracing any and all wires from the abs system to their source and make sure all connections are good and tight
on the engine racing/slowing while accelerating(i assume it doesnt hold steady at cruise or idle either) is more likely the TPS

The engine only does that if I floor it as if i am trying to pass or merge. If I do a gradual acceleration everything is good and when I am at highway speeds I can floor it and it will respond.
What weight oil did you use? If it was anything other than 10W-30 tha could be the problem. Also make sure you always replace the filter when changing the oil, not sure if you did that too.
10W-30 High mileage was used and the oil filter was replaced at the time but not the air filter.

Okay well were going to eliminate the oil and filter out of the equation for the time being as that should do just fine. Check that air filter and if it needs replaced K&N drop in filter is the best but if you don't want to spend that kind of money, Fram yellow filter from Wal-Mart or AutoZone is the best for your money.
Make sure to check the air filter before just replacing it. If you have a regular paper filter, if it's still bright white, don't even waste your money. If it's more of a grey shade and some green/black in some areas then go ahead and replace it.
