My dad works for Shell and the lab scientists tell him that useing 4 quarts of conventional oil and 1 quart of synthetic will reap around 85% of the benefits of doing a 5 quart synthetic change, saving you some money each change.

Personally I wouldn't do that. By mixing oils you loose the benefits of synthetics, mainly that extra 2k in between changes and wear protection. Also mobile 1 is like $25 for a 5 quart jug at wal-mart.

if you read this whole thread we caution not to use a blend oil or mixing oils. either straight normal, or straight synthetic.

1)That tranny fluid thing is an old school myth,it's dangerous in todays engines.One of my teachers swears by it also but he drives a 60's model Impala,2)mixing oil is a terrible idea,3)ty Hydra for the oil explanation.4)Seafoam if absolutely needed,a slower high detergent if you can.....It's been covered here in other threads...Oil manufacturers spend millions developing their refining and detergent blending and then here comes some little company that mixes a mineral oil based "snake oil" to tickle peoples need to add something.....you guys hit it on the head..stay away from cheap non branded or store brand oils and spend the couple extra bucks for a good name brand and filter(moper,purolator)...Can't believe I just read another one thinking cheap oil is just as good...Isn't this the information age? I bet whomever did the impact on the drain plug thing just bought the tool and he's using it on everything...Sorry,just 2 cents...can't wait to see what master tech's gonna say about this one....
On the anograms;
MOPAR-Mostly Old Parts And Rust...a friends tease when I bought the Durango(He's another Ford lover) But HE needed a ride in this morning cuz his new F-250 is dead....AGAIN

I read the thread, I don't personally do it. I get cases of full synthetic for free all the time off my dad. Just throwing out there what I was told once.

I'll give em' the benefit of the doubt that he read the thread after his initial post.
