Default Loud Fuel Pump?

2000 Durango SLT 5.9 w/ 3.55's

My fuel pump is quite loud... Inside the vehicle and out. It's just a constant "whirrrrr" sound. I can obviously hear it a lot better when I'm standing beside the while while it's running... But I can hear it a bit inside the vehicle as well...

Is this normal?

Should I make a quick video with my phone and upload it?

is this only when your first turn the key on?
does it stop making noise after a couple of seconds?
can you hear it over the engine while driving?

i CAN hear mine prime up when i first turn the key to the 'on' position from inside the truck but it goes off after a few seconds and then i turn the key to start and i drive away.

The noise the fuel pump makes when you first turn the ignition to the on-position... which is like 3 seconds of priming... I know we're talking about the same noise.

Well... When the truck is running, it makes that same noise, but constatly all the time.

Here's a link to the short video I made today.

Just held my phone under the truck in front of the rear wheels near the fuel tank.

That's definitely not normal. Unfortunately the fuel pump is in the tank so looks like you'll be dropping the tank soon. It too sounds to me like it's on it's way out, unfortunately.

Yeah... Actually... It's way louder than the video makes it out to be. I can hear the pump from across the parking lot at times.

Hopefully she can hold on for a little while longer.
