Default New Generic China made audio deck for Chrysler

I am wondering if this new generic all in one 6.5 inch LCD deck made from china will fit our first generation 1 generation interior consoles?

They said it is 1.8 din, so little larger than 1.5 dn. Still wonder if the opening on the dash can still accomodate a 1.8 inch size. here is the link to it. $499 is not bad for what they offer and they even made the radio to look OEM!

http://www.lightinthebox.com/1-8-Din...l#have_reviews

Within the line, they show the dimensions of the 1.8 inch deck in mm. So I hope we know what our factory 1.5 din dimensions are and I am sure the opening in the dash is a little larger.

If this deck will fit even with small modifications, i will buy it. My OEM deck LCD is going in/out on me. This generic deck even supports remote control on steering wheel.

I'm sure you could figure out how to make it work! If it's minuscule changes it should work. Oh and make sure to those who are reading, this would only possibly work on 98-00 models with the rectangle radio.

I think this could be an awesome project for you! Keep us posted if you do end up jumping in because if it works for you, I'll definitely do it!!!

All I need is someone to give me the physical dimensions of the original OEM Infinity Radio on the 1st gen interior (98-00). If the dimension is very close, I'll buy it and attempt to make it fit.

I already bought the Blauphunkt 4 channel amp that is a perfect replacement for the OEM amp in the kick panel but will need to retrofit the wires.

If I decide to go this route, I will use the cabling I bought for the blauphunkt to make it work with this deck.

True that, but the proverbial "square plug in a round hole" ain't gonna cut it this time. Maybe with the right tools....

Wow... I haven't been able to log into the site for about a week... My computer here at work was on the fritz.

ANYWAYS...

I just so happen to have my factory radio and a tape measure in the storage compartment in the back of my 2000 Durango right now. I'll go out after lunch and measure it for you.

I think you'll be fine for height and width... For depth though... I had to use two big nuts (no pun intended) as makeshift spacers to mount my aftermarket stereo. The damn thing was just too long. (That's what she said!)

So yeah. Measurements coming your way asap.

Yes but here's some food for thought...

Chrysler had a stock radio much like the aftermarket one in the post as stated above. Heres a picture and I'm sure you could find one. This radio was only available for the round style radios...
