Info on shelby sp 360 durangos
Just purchased 99 sp360 with 47000 miles...have searched online for past week for any info on this truly rare durango. I canot find any kind of registery...can anyone help. I have #74..supposdly that's out of only 300 made. I was able to find the 3 locations of the shelby serialized tags on the vehicle and they match where few other sp 360 owners say they are. Realize their were few fake sp360's out there...also know that shelby himself authorized his name to be used but really didn't have full involvment in the vehicle/race truck trendz and performance west were the 2 companies that actually put the sp360 together. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I may start a shelby durango registey if I can get enoigh owners to send me their info...calling shelby america in morning for help but have heard they don't have much info since carroll shelby wasn't really involved in production.

Ok..made lots of phone calls today trying to get solid info on the shelby sp 360. Called shelby america in las vegas and talked to steve who is in shelbys register office. He/they have no records for the sp360 as it was a licensing deal only. He said carol shelby himself still has the first sp360 in his garage/shop in los angeles and still owns it as of this day. Steve @ shelby mentioned that mr shelby considers it a true shelby even though his shop didn't do the aftermarket work. He stated carol doesn't just put his name on anything..if the vehicle meets his standards and is not just a sticker and window tint job, then he is satisfied and approves of his name on that product. He said chrsysler would know if I have vin numbers..I do. Kenne bell blowers did fail on lots of these and owners replaced with prochargers/paxtons, etc. Called cuerello seat company and she knew a lot about the vehicle. The cuerello seats with carol shelbys signature stiched in were never sold to the public. They were made strictly for the sp360 and she stated that they also got a licensing deal with shelby to have his actual signature put into the seat backrest. She estimated bout 300 sp360's were made. Also found out there were many options in taking with steve @ shelby today. Some sp360's came with no stripes, just viper blue paint. Some had no superchargers..the front shelby signature racing seats were standard..the back bucket racing seats were options. Carbon fiber dash was standard. The cs identification badges... 1 is on the center console between seats on floor...the other is on front frame of vehicle in front of radiator. When u pop the hood its right there on your right..some were on the left. Supposdly there may be a third underneath vehicle on frame rails. I'm gonna check mine here in few days when I can get it on a lift. That's all I have for now. Again I want to develop a webpage/registey for the shelby..steve @ shelby agreed it was a great idea and to notify him when I get it up and going as they are interested in this info also. PLS,IF ANY OWNERS OF SP 360 DURANGOS ARE READING THIS GET ME AS MUCH INFO ON YOUR SP360 AS POSSIBLE SO I CAN START PUTTING THIS TOGETHER. Any of u guys/gals on here who know of owners of these vehicles or have info for me pls leave me msgs. Saleen did a registry years ago in book form of all the saleen muatangs they sold and their owners. I would love to do the same..have a book that has your sp360 in it, pics of you and the vehicle and a little history behind it and you in buying it. Hope to hear from you shelby owners soon. Ps..if you even owned one and then sold it pls msg me also. There were approx only 300 ever produced so I'm curious as to how many are still on the road today and not blown up by the sc or wrecked or dare I say it..crushed or in junk yards. Thnx
Whoa there... slow down. Great to hear you are super excited about your purchase last week on the Shelby.
In terms of gathering details, I have about 4 years head start on you and. There is already a Shelby Durango Registry at the Durango Owners Club which includes your #74. It is cross linked to the Shelby Registry. I have details on every Shelby Durango ever produced and once they resurface, we include them in the registry. I would love to update it with your info new if you see fit to sharing some details.
In fact, in regard to Shelby Durango lore, I was personally contacted to verify the original Shelby Durango #0001 AND the #0000 prototype.
Would you like to know about YOUR SHELBY? Your Kenne Belle Suspercharger didn't fail BTW. Yours never had a Kenne Belle Supercharger. It was produced with the Paxton by Star Coach right out of the gate.
I started tracking "yours" on January 16th, 2009... so about 29 months. Long enough to gestate a elephant + a human baby.
Here ya go...
#0074: Originally sold at the Newark Dodge dealership in Delaware, last seen in Seminole, FL, 45K miles, eBay listed via BuyItNow @ $17,100, lowered and aftermarket rims, Star Coach edition with the Paxton Supercharger, 1 of 3 reported to have the "Stripe Delete" option thus no stripes. No bids to date with auction ending 1/17/09. VIN 1B4HR28Z4XF546988. Original wheels missing, unknown modifications completed to lower the vehicle.

U just saved me a lot of work then...I've spent days looking for any info or any one who had a registry on these...so my longa## posts did pay off..they found you. I've owned saleen and roush mustangs and am drawn towarda specialty vehicles...so getting a shelby 360 was, yes, exciting considering the rarity...at 47 years old, I finally have one...will get my info to you. Have u contacted steve at shelby...he seemed interested in getting a registey for this vehicle on the shelby website...,
Yes on the no stripes on mine...although I like the sp360 with stripes and thought about adding them, I may not do that now that it is only 1 of 3 with the delete option. Yes it has been lowered and has aftermarket wheels..again will get u the specifics. I also have a new carfax on it. It now has a procharger on it. And yes I purchased it in seminole fl sat may 8. Again will get this info to ur registey. I live in orlando fl. What is your feeling on these as far as value....would like your input.
My 360 #74 has 47, 768 miles as of 8 may..vin matches what you have..I paid 11,900 for it. Its in superb condition. No procharger boos/fuel gauges. Ill definitly add those. Has 4 cuerello shelby sig. Seats and carbon dash appliques. Saw it was $20 plus to join durango club so wanted to give u this info now...ill join next week. Questions: how many shelbys do u have info on. States vehicle went auctioHow many were made. Where are the shelby serial number plaques located..I heard 3 locations. You thoughts if carroll shelby passes away will theae increase in value substantially. Any more info on mine would be appreciated. Carfax states it went to auction at 10000 miles...possible repo...no damage/ accidents since new. If u have fax number..ill send carfax.

No. Of course not. ANYONE can be a member of the DOC forum FOR FREE. You can post, link, whatever. That hasn't changed. Common misconception.
A paid "Membership" only helps pay for the place. We don't have dozens to hundreds of supporting corporate sponsors. None in fact. No Ads, no Sponsors, just Durango owners helping Durango owners. We don't compete against other forums on purpose. We aren't in any business. We're just an end-user forum.
Paying just gets you a few more benefits. As "paid" you can use the for sale section as soon as day/post #1 and you can access the Members-Only section of the forum. The Barter Zone is there where folks have D stuff for free for other DOC members and there is a general section supporting folks via general discussion.
Enough of that... back to the Shelby.
OP, neat to see that stuff already collected about the vehicle you just bought isn't it
Great to see that a Shelby Durango found a home with an enthusiast. Let me know if I can help you in any way. I am on many places on the web including right here at DodgeForum on a daily basis. Plus, I'll be in Orlando most of the week of the 22nd!
I sent you my office fax number via private message so you can send me a copy of the Car Fax. No need to use a cover sheet, I own the place.

I wonder why!
When you go to the site http://durangoclub.com/ and click "How To Join" you don't see a "Free" membership, you only see this, and this would make me think twice as well!!!!!

You are on the JOIN the CLUB section so of course there is the details to... "join the club."
That info is old too. No corporate members and there are no ID cards anymore.
When you joined the DOC forum, you didn't do any of that. You just picked your HS username, confirmed your login and you were/are set. And you're already there because you posted (again) today silly. LOL.
Drunk already my friend ?

OP,
The dash treatment is standard for all Shelbys. The number plate is under the hood at the radiator and on the dash floor where you have both of yours. Reportedly the frame has a tag too, however I believe while that was the intention, it didn't happen at either vendor putting the Shelbys together. Again, that is my thoughts since I have never seen a photo of any frame tag. Let me know if you find one on yours (with photo evidence too of course.)
Question for you... on your front lower fascia, center of the vehicle, right at the bottom under the bumper... does yours have the letters "S H E L B Y" there in the plastics?
Also, do you have the SECOND ROW center console?
You asked what I have on all of the Shelbys. I have a factory spreadsheet with ALL of THEM listed. I have the VINs and the point of sale (dealership) where the vehicle was shipped. Also misc data on how that particular Shelby was supposed to be configured (2x4, 4x4, supercharger or not, etc.) Once they were shipped to the dealers, they were lost to the wind as the owners took them. Once they reappear and I can get a photo of either of the Shelby tags numbers, it goes into the registry thread. There are clones out there so unless I see the tags, it doesn't go in the registry. You can go back and see the photos I have already of yours. Please feel free to send me any new ones, especially of specialty areas.
I think your Shelby is special because the Durango was built in Newark, Delware... then shipped out for the Shelby treatment... only to see herself shipped back to Newark Delaware to the local Dodge dealer to be sold. Sorta like it was meant to return home "re-newed" prior to taking the next steps in its life.
