Have you checked all your vacuum lines? I remember hearing that if you have a vacuum line leak or air leak it might cause a rough idle. Can always check the simple things. Besides the plugs are your wires good?

Are you getting a misfire? Any check engine light. Like i mentioned above i think if you have an air leak from a vacuum line than that might possibly not cause the check engine light to come on.

And like mentioned before with obd2 cars a bad o2 sensor can cause a rough idle. if it is an o2 sensor maybe you're having issues with your cat converter? if ones clogged up or not doing its job right which would trigger an o2 sensor could cause a rough idle.

Dumb one but is your air filter clean? if its all clogged up and your not getting enough air that might be causing some problems? not to sure on that one.

Maybe something to do with your pcv valve? those are kinda cheap right? ten bucks? and check the hoses related to it.

these are all thoughts. maybe someone else has any ideas based off what i said?

Ok i cleaned out the TB the "correct way" but still having the same problem. The air filter is new, i checked all the vac lines that i could find and the all looked good. i sprayed starting fluid all around the motor but there was no response anywhere. It did kinda sound like a vac leak near the TB but i think thats just the air rushing into the engine. It the original battery that came with the truck so im not sure how old it is. Ive never had any problems starting the truck. im starting to think maybe this problem is internal.

+1 on this.

I'd go for the battery first though.

max battery life on trucks seems to be 4 years, many only see 3 (the first one in my truck gave up after just over 4 years, the second one was changed at 4.5 years)

if my dad would have changed our battery it would have been an interstate battery. it doesnt say interstate on it anywhere so I'm guessing like he said its the original battery.
