Ok, here's a new one.... I started my truck on Saturday morning and observed that all of the gear indicators on the dash ( P R N D 2 1) ALL had the box around them. I moved the shifter and they all stayed lit. I put it in park, then moved it back one, they all stayed lit but I was able to back out. Moved it two more to put it in drive, started moving and the "block" that highlights them stayed on D and turned off for the rest of them.

It's happened twice more since then, only when I startup, and it goes away after 20-30 seconds. The last time I just sat there in park without moving and watched it go away.

Ideas? It's a 2003 SLT 4WD w/ a 4.7

There is a TSB on that issue but I can't find it. 1800503C

Look around, I know master tech has it and he has posted it here before.

Thanks, I never thought to look at TSB's. I found that the TSB was updated to 18-013-04 and requires a firmware flash. Guess I'll have to contact a dealer (Grrrrr....) to see if it can be accomplished. Funny that the problem just showed up now, since the upgrade was discovered in 2004?
