Thanks for the replies everyone. Going to the local drag strip this weekend to settle this thing. Oh how I love brotherly rivalries ;-) The only reason I thought I wouldn't win is because the Ranger is so much lighter. Would it be better to do it in 2WD or 4WD?

2wd cause your on a drag strip. 4wd is only for offroad or slick conditions and the speed in 4wd is limited... if im not mistaken

Well i think you can go just as fast in 4wd as long as you arent turning or anything, thats when the binding occurs. I had a 2001 explorer AWD 5.0 and I honestly never had any problems with it. It was slow yes, but a tank indefinitely.

I've never heard of that. You aren't supposed to shift to and from 4wd at speeds higher than 40-45.

Gotta love brotherly competition. Thanks for all the replies. I know I'd spank him in my 04 Hemi but that probably wouldnt be as fair.... Is it better to do the race in 2WD or 4WD?

if it was me i would just leave it in 2wd... i dont see 4wd giving you any boost and i would worry about ruining the 4wd by using it improperly...

Push and pull vs. push... 2wd

Speed limitations in 4wd = low vs. high 4wd mode.

+1 with Srch
Any acceleration benefit you might gain you would lose again with top end performance.
