Front end Whine
Greetings,
I have a 2000 Durango 4wheel drive, 2 wheel anti-lock breaks. For a week or so, there has been a whine in the front end when we get to about 20 mph and grows louder as speeds increase. If you turned the wheels to the right, the whining stopped.
After some research, it was figured that the front hub assembly was bad. We bought another assembly and replaced it. The whine was still present, if we turned the wheels to the right, the whine still would stop.
The information we researched was if you turn the wheels to the right, the weight would be shifted from the front right to the left.
If any of you could, we would love some input on this.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to DF
When replace hub bearings, I always recommend to replace both sides. For this reason. Do you still have the old bearing you removed? I would put it on the other side that you didn't replaced. and then drive it.

Thank you for the welcome and reply. I still do have the old one. I will put the old one on the drivers side. I will post an update.
I assume that the "new" hub is faulty. The whine was still present with the new hub. I decided to do an experiment.
I removed the driver side hub and pit it on the passenger side... I then put the old hub on the drivers side. Now the whine has shifted sides. Now I must turn to the left to stop the whine. I should be getting another "new" hub tomorrow.

After going through 3 "new" hubs, the problem is still there. I have checked everything I can think of... I guess I need to put it in the shop.

I only replaced the driver's side hub.
The hub I figured to be bad is on the driver's side. When going 30 plus mph with the wheels straight, you can hear the whine. If you turn the wheels to the passenger side (right side), the while is louder... if you turn the wheels to the left (driver's side) then the while almost goes away.
