wheels and breaks
ok so here's my question. i want to put 33x12.5x15 tires on the durango after i get it fixed and lifted. so my question is this. i need a rim width of 10 right? now what back spacing do i need? also with larger tires like these do i need to upgrade the brakes on the vehicle? go with stronger callipers or will the stock ones have enough power to stop the vehicle with the larger tires on it.
They should have enough power, mine stop fine with 14,000 combined vehicle weight and trailer, that was without trailer brakes. But upgrading is always fine too
. I'd think Duranged could off some insight into backspacing and wheel offset.

yeah i think the brakes are good i was just curious... i think that stopping a bigger tire is different from stopping a vehicle and trailer. have to take into account the tire size and the speed the tire is spinning. or at least i thought so. im no physics whiz though... just didn't know if the force of the larger diameter spinning tire would be different than like what you said adukart about stopping with a trailer.
It is different, but the force of the tire spinning forward and the weight of the tire will increase your stopping distance, but a 33x12.50 isn't that much larger than a 31x10.50. If it where 35+ inches then I would definitely say upgrading should be in your future plans, thats my
Just thought this Icon was funny
You'll probably notice quite the difference, looks like you have 235/75r15's from the pic in your sig, I've got the 31x10.50 and it handles those heavy duratrac's fine, thats another thing to consider what tire where you looking at? Cause some are much heavier than other even of the same size. My duratracs easily have 10lbs a piece on the trail mark radial apt that were on it when I got it.

2 inch back spacing on the rims to push them out from the hub for 33x12.5x15.
Brakes are all up to you, but I would do Duralast Gold series pads and a good rotor of your choice, but that's my opinion.
