That's the Pitman arm to the steering rod. I was hoping greasing that would smooth out the jerky motion and silence the squeak. Mine has a standard grease fitting in it, it looks like you could screw one into yours.

No, he is talking about the sway bar bushing on the far left side under the frame, however it might have been the pitman arm on the top......LOL

99g0<------ Do you have brown Power Steering fluid in yours or the red (ATF+4)? I think yours takes the Brown but only a dealer can tell you with your VIN#. If you installed red or regular fluid that will cause it to go out! Also watch your tires as you might have to get an alignment and tell them not to touch the height.

I greased the Pitman arm, no squeak for <1 mile, then it was there. I'll try the sway bar bushings, I think you listed what use for it above.
Minor panic over the transmission fluid. I just within the last few hundred miles put red ATF+3 or 4 in it. The manual said to use that, as did the Chiltons manual (I know, I know). The Durango manual even said it would be red. The fluid which came out was red. The manual listed the transmissions like this:
3.9L 42RE
5.2L 44RE (mine)
5.9L 46RE
There are a lot of numbers on the driver's side of the transmission just above the pan, none of the above. There is 4 above the rest of numbers, is that for 44? The rest of the numbers are:
PK52119817AA 0889 5103
Is there an online resource to tell from the VIN? I try to avoid dealerships, like dark alleys. Bad things happen there ;-)

Thanks for the vin number. You have a 44RE transmission, the front axle have 3.55 gears and the rear is 9.25. There are 3 types of fluid you can use. 1st ATF+4, 2nd mopar number 4883077 and mopar 5166226AA. Those last two numbers, one maybe clear fluid and the other is red.

No,

There is a ATF+4, a Red, and a Brown power steering fluid. The Red fluid was not ATF, it was a just regular regular Red power steering fluid, nothing special unlike the ATF+4 and Brown.

Just to make sure I am reading this correctly, any of these 3 is OK in the power steering system?
Do the general purpose steering fluids at AutoZone work, like this Prestone Power Steering Fluid? Probably that or the AutoZone brand is what's in there now.
Thanks for the help!
