Liftgate "shocks"
Hey guys, silly question. My tailgate (liftgate), as the weather is starting to cool off on my 2000 Rango is starting to drift and land on my head....
Besides unscrewing 2 bolts on each shock and supporting it, is there anything else that I need to know?
I found some Monroes at Summit Racing that seem to come with the bolts that hold them in place. Is that so and are they a good brand to get?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Yeah they're fine. I replaced the ones on my Grand Cherokee last fall (now it looks like I need to do the hood ones).
I just took one off and carried it to Advance and let them match it up. Dealer was like $49 per, Advance was $12...

Hello all and thank you. Yes, I'll support it well and take out one at the time replace it and so on. it looked pretty straight forward, just taking out
bolts....
I figured if it's coming down slowly now, it'll really whack me in the head as the winter comes....
Thanks again.

Your best option is to have a helper hold it up when it needs to be up. You don't want your static props (poles, 2x4s, etc.) slipping out. That would be bad. Very bad...
avar... that's what I thought. Straight forward. Was still a PITA.
modain... exactly why I suggested MULTIPLE propping devices. A second set of hands certainly qualifies. +1!

Ok, a 2nd person it is then. In addition to props.
Better safe than sorry. Once that's established, the screwing and unscrewing of the old and putting in the new, (again one at the time), is that straight forward?
