My transmission has a clinking noise inside it when it is put in gear and it wont go in to gear, when in park it rolls. do i need a new transmission??

I'm guessing you have a 4.7 with a 45RFE transmission. Have you had any service done to the transmission?

 

No he has a 5.9L and a 2003 so he has a 46RE transmission. Could be the transmission shifter cable could be out of adjustment. Ensure the cable is in fact adjusted correctly then diagnose an internal failure or electrical.

 

Sorry. Okay then either cable is off or the park paw rod had snapped off inside the transmission causing the transmission not to hold in park.
