Default Little Heat Cold Feet

Hey guys & gals, we have a '01 Durango SLT 4.7-4x4. I'm curious as to if anyone has had heating problems with theirs. I bought this truck in '02 w/11K on the clock, so it was still under warranty at that time. When the heat control is switched to floor, my face always burns up, & my feet stay cold. I've taken it to the dealer complaining about this, & they told me the heat was coming out of the floor vents. I stuck my hand down there, & it does blow out, but that vent is way up in there. The dash vents seem to leak out some heat, & the defrost probably does too. It just seems to me that the floor vent should be blowing out much more forcefully. I've never had a vehicle before where my feet were cold driving during the winter. And I have to cut the temp control back quite a bit to keep my face from being so hot. I also close the dash vents, & redirect them away from me. Is this common with this generation Durango? This problem has been like this since I bought it 9yrs ago.

My brother has the same problem with his '03 Ram...no air out the floor vents at all. In fact, I think he told me that all he's getting is air out the defrogger vents, now. I couldn't figure it out last time he has his truck here because I simply didn't have enough time.

I'm interested in the solution to this one too.

Could be a diverter door issue.

Mine had this problem from new, the original owner had it into the shop twice, they got it pretty good but it was a design flaw. Something sticks with the diverter door. It only affects a few, kind of like the sudden loss of oil pressure a few have reported.

So what's the solution? Is it vacuum or eletrical or mechanical? Or a combination of these things?

Your 2001 is electrical actuators. You could have a bad one on the diverter door which should be around the center under the dash. Look there and see if it is working, if not replace or R&R.

I'll check it out when my wife gets home with the truck. Excuse my ignorance, but what did you mean by R&R?
