Thumbs up Sputtering engine solved

Hey guys, I have lived with this issue for 3 years. After start up my 99' 5.9L would idle fine, then after 5 min it would start to idle rough and sputter and sometimes stall. Then after 3 mins of that it would smooth out and run fine. It happened mostly after sitting for more than 30 min. I have long suspected the pre-cat O2 sensor, but there were never any codes. I changed the IAC, TPS and did the full tune-up. My Y-pipe just rusted out on me and needed to be changed, I elected to change the Cat converter and both O2 sensors as well. (Pipes change was a bitch BTW.) The problem seems to have been corrected and I"m 99% sure it was that pre-cat O2 sensor. Just passing along some info , hope it helps someone else.

Good day y'all,

I had the same issue on my 3.9L, the complete tune-up was done on Oct 2011, distributor cap and rotor, wires, Ģspark plugs, TPS, Idle motor, Oxygen sensor (after the muffler) cleaned the Throttle Boddy and still had the same thing, sputtering after 3 min. and get back to normal after another 2 min.

I replaced the Oxygen sensor (before the muffler) and the issue went away. It was replaced last monday and three days later (today) it doesn,t do it anymore. PLUS, the gas mileage got better. Cheers to yeah all...xx

I did always wonder why when I went to rockauto that they listed the 3.9L. I thought it was just a mistake...
