Default 2000 Durango won't start.

My son in laws 2000 durango 5.2 auto 2wd won't start. It turns over and tries to fire but won't. The coil was tested and it is fine. Strong spark on all cylinders and the compression is good. Replaced the crank sensor and changed the plugs, still nothing. Fuel pump is fine and there is 50 lbs pressure at the fuel rails. Checked the injector switches and they aregetting pulses. Tried a shot of starter fluid and nothing seems to work. No codes are showing on scanner. any ideas?

Honestly, I have no idea, you checked everything I would have checked except for one thing.

Battery Connections. Sounds stupid, but I used to have a Ford that did the same thing, just would turn over adn try to fire, but act like it wasn't getting enough fuel. The terminals on the battery were corroded. Once I replaced them and one of 2 alternator fuses, truck never failed to start. I honestly would start with battery connections and wires, and fuses. Also make sure your battery has enough charge. It could have just enough charge to turn the truck over but not enough to fire. From my personal experience,

Thanks,
The battery connections are good and the battery is fully charged. Fuses and relays all are good.

Did you check inside the dist cap, for being wet with condension? And if you good compressure, fuel and spark. the fuel maybe the problem. You may have pressure, but no volume. I would remove the spark plugs and check to see if they gas fouled.

You sprayed starting fluid directly into the throttle body?

Distributor seems dry. Plugs are wet when checked. Yes, I sprayed fluid directly into the throttle box.

Pushing the release in on the pressure cage filled a small bottle with gas in just a few seconds so I think the volume is okay, and the gas was clear no water or dirt visible

Try holding the gas pedal to the floor when you start it. (Sounds stupid with fuel injection, but it worked for me once. Not sure why)

I would clean the plugs and dry them out and put them back in. Also remove the fuel pump relay and then crank the engine over with out the plugs and try drying out all the cylinders by doing this.
