Default super 44 muffler

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone would know how to install a flowmaster super 44 muffler on a 2000 4.7 V8. I know i need a 2.5 center inlet/2.5 offset outlet, But my stock muffler is about 30in and the flowmaster is around 14in. i cant seem to find any lengths on any extensions on any websites, and my local autozone doesn't know jack ****. If anyone has installed one themselves, any help would be appreciated.

if you plan to just cut out the old muffler simple math says you need a 16 inch extension pipe, however if it were me i would be replacing all the pipe from the muffler out the back.(yes they sell kits for this)

+1
if you get a cat back system, then you won't have to worry about extensions and you'll get a nice shiny tailpipe

To me, the "cat back" systems are overpriced. Before I went to dual exhaust from the muffler back, I did what was mentioned here and installed a section of pipe to fill the void from the original muffler.

Got tired of that and went with the Flowmaster Super 44 single in/dual out. Had the dual exhaust bent entirely custom from my local exhaust shop and the tips exited where I wanted them. It was quite a bit cheaper than the kits. Granted, it's not stainless steel pipe, but my truck hardly ever sits long enough to rust the exhaust.

When did dodge switch to welded mufflers?
I was under my 98 and noticed mine is clamped on...make it really easy when I go to swap mine!

Thanks for the replies guys, I was planning on just filling the space with pipe, I'm just not sure where find the pipes. When I get home I'll have to take some more accurate measurements so I can find the exact length of pipe I need.

I would buy the cat back, but I don't want to spend the money on it. I think the muffler will sound just fine...but I still have to figure out how to get it on.

Um, muffler shop? Think they might have a small piece of pipe?

If it was me, I would just take said muffler to shop and let them weld it in. Actually, that's just what I did. Dirt cheap and very easy.
