Default AC bypass serpentine belt for 5.9L?

Hi, I've done some searches and came up with zilch. Does anyone have a part # for the shorter belt on the 5.9L to bypass the AC? My compressor on my 2003 is whining fairly badly and will smell a bit after running for a while and I'd just like to bypass it and be done with it, as I only use this vehicle to tow my racing karts.

Much thanks for any help!

Yep, need to deal with it - I have a 4.7, and I know for a fact you can't just bypass the compressor because after making the round on the idler pully it would come back upon itself and burn up in short order if the engine ran...

But I hear it's possible on the 5.9 - might wanna search the forum here some, I know I seen some postings on it.

But I did find out in all this that most of the belt part numbers include the length. You might be able to run a piece of string around your proposed route and measure it for the belt length, keeping in mind it'll need to be a bit shorter to keep tension.

Here's a link to Dayco's site - put in some numbers there and you can get part numbers..

Make sure you select 'serpentine belts' at the top, the link seems to just take you to the general page for all their products.

90.5 is a perfect fit for any future searchers of this topic. Figured I'd pass along the info =)

Hello All,

I had a problem where my fan belt was breaking, squealing or chirping continuously. I discovered that this was due to the AC compressor. I decided to bypass the AC with the fan belt, and read many reccomendations on forums suggesting a 90.5 inch belt. This went on very easily and worked for about a day before it stretched naturally and became too loose, the alternator pulley was squealing very loudly.

I then tried the 88.5 inch belt which is the "exact fit" according to auto zone, and advanced auto parts websites. This was a little too small and impossible to put on.

After searching hard for a 89.5 inch belt, (90.5 being too big and 88.5 being too small). I found one at advance auto which I linked below. This belt went on very easily and after driving it for a day I have no squeals or chirping. I believe this is the correct belt to bypass the AC if you are stuck.

FYI - I have an 02 durango RT 5.9 L

Here is the belt that solved my problem

If you have a 5.9 L in you're durango and if you have and Autozone they have belts for the 5.9s with and without air conditioning, or go to LMC trucks and type in you durango info and you can get a pulley to put in the place of you're air conditioner pump.
