Magnaflow Vs. Flowmaster... What do you prefer?
So i decided its time for a new muffler system since mine is getting pretty rusted and soon i will have some holes in my muffler..
I been doing alot of research online and have narrowed my choices to a Magnaflow or a Flowmaster. Now, i was wondering which do you guys use, what do you like/don't like about it.
I have read lots of great things about both mufflers but, also read a few bad things.. one of the problems that come up alot with the flowmaster's are that they rust pretty quickly (within 2-3 years) ... also read that the magnaflow's give a better flow... so, i ask what are everyone thoughts??
I know this topic can get pretty hot so lets all try to keep it civil, clean, and respectful and not turn it into a all out pi$$ing match for sharps to clean up

Flowmasters seem to be noticeably louder, but they do sound great. I have a very large Magnaflow muffler on my 4.7L and it gives the truck a nice rumble at idle, and only gets loud around and past 2400rpm. If you want a subtle, deep bellow I would suggest going for the magnaflow. If you want a roar, go with Flowmaster.
Performance wise, I would say they're relatively equal as long as you're comparing mufflers of the same size, you'll probably notice slightly more power and 1-2mpg increase. Now considering I have the 4.7 and you the 5.2, my opinion might not be all that valuable but I hope I helped.

I'm looking for something that's not gonna rust though in the next few months and does not sound like my grandmothers sweeper or the neighbors weed-eater... a little growl would not hurt at all. As far as gaining MPG i am not really expecting any increase but if it give me a mile more im not gonna complain.
I love my 2.5" Flowmaster Super 40 Delta V Muffler but can't compare to a magnaflow.

I posted this with a video when I changed my stock Muffler to a Flowmaster.

as for lasting long my dad put a 3" magnaflow stainless cat back system on it 10 years ago and it's still in great condition. It's got a nice rumble at idle and isn't loud until you get around 2400rpm.

I don't have any issues with rust on my fm40. I live in the high desert so we don't get much in the way of weather but we do see snow in the winter and salt when it snows. Some years we get a good amount of snow others not so much.
I run original Flowmaster 40 with mud baked on it. No rust after 5years. Both offer stainless parts. I run Delta 40s on '62 Chevy less interior noise. Change of pipe size out the Muffler for more sound. I perfer the hot rod sound of the Flowmaster.
