Default Rebuilding a 318

Hey guys,
I found a 318 from a 97 dakota, the guy is willing to part with it for $110 because he wants it out of his shop, he said it ran fine when he took it out, and has 180,000 miles on it. My current motor has 174,000.

It has always been a dream of mine to rebuild a motor, think it is worth it? and if it is out of a 97 dakota, will it fit the same as mine from a 99 Durango?

thats the motor

It's got a lot of miles on it, but if you plan to rebuild it and not just swap it in right away then it's a good deal! Keep us updated on the work!

Well, it is official, this rebuild will not be happening!

Wife said no after she got all the parts together, applied my discounts and it came to $2350 and that is without machine shop!

The wife controls the pocket book, she said if I want a new engine she will buy me one for $1300 with my discounts lol

Pull your ***** back out of her purse and man up!

It should not EVEN cost that much! If you do the labor you should be able to have the short block and heads rebuilt back to OEM, and installed (call NAPA) for under $900.

Besides that, it takes 2 for a marriage, not just one sided. You give some and she gives some, 50/50.
