If the top ones are stock you will need an angle grinder or something to Carefully grind the rivets out. New one has bolts that slip through the old rivet holes. Problem i had was the bolts that came with my moog joints all stripped out at around 20 lb ft. Had to cut them off again and go to the hardware store for better bolts.

since it only happens at idle i still lean towards a cooling fan issue over anything else, most likely a bad clutch fan, but it could also be bad electric cooling fan.
when you changed the thermostat did you properly burp the cooling system?? its a little bit tricky on that engine and takes time and patience.
