I have just recently noticed a noise from my ac compressor. It has never made this noise at all till the other day. The ac works great and cold. But the noise is whats bothering me and the costs of new compressor alone with evac and refill? Is it the bearint/clutch assembly making this noise? Its like a growl grinding noise. Start durango up cold and made this noise stops after bit when driving with ac on or off? Whats the problem? and what can be dont to fix this the cheapest way? also will the bearing/clutch kit off ebay be possible to buy and fix my problem. Any suggestions welcome thanks guys!

Back in the old days, yes, you should be able to buy a replacement bearing kit and replace it. But you will need the tools to do it and the tools are not cheap to justify the DIY for the cheap bearing kit unless you plan on using these tools more often to get their money's worth. Process should take about an hour to do.
Not sure if this still holds true with today's compressors. I haven't done one since the 80's when I was still in HS taking A/C classes as part of my vocational choice.

Alright thanks alot, I see the clutch and bearing kit selling everywhere I looked, (ordered by auto parts that is) but they sell them. The bearings only 20 some dollars it's just a matter of how to do it haha. I have the ac bypassed right now long enough for me to get it fixed, I am avoiding getting new compressor as much as possible cause that's $$$$$ to have done thanks again

C0lt0n,
As I said, the toolkit to remove the clutch and bearing on the A/C compressor is not cheap. I think the toolkit cost around a couple hundred bucks or more. Would be better off to just have a A/C shop do it for you for roughly the same price of the toolkit unless you plan on doing this more often to get your money's worth on the tools alone.
If I remember the procedure, you have to remove the compressor clutch to get access to the bearing. Can be a PITA of a chore if the clutch/bearing is seized up on the compressor shaft.
