Default window issue

I have a 2001 durango R/T. let me start off by saying that somehow the window regulator cable on the front passenger window got bound up and tied in a knot somehow inside the motor but the back windows were working fine with all the switches. I took the regulator and motor out and am waiting on a new one but now the back windows will only go up/down with the master swith and the window lock is off. when you press the window switches in the back nothing happens now. they were working fine yesterday before I took the front motor and regulator out. any ideas as why they are only working from the master switch now? when I put the door panel back on the front everything but the motor got pluged back in and they got pluged back in correctly because the door locks work when you press the passenger lock button. any help would be great.

Is the window lock button pushed? If not it may be stuck internally in the position that disables all the other window switches.

well I went out to beat on the doors and I thought I would give it one last try and now they are working like a charm. don't know what happened but now they are working fine and I have had no issues with them all day today. whatever it was it must have worked itself out.

@lspencer001..glad the rather crude door banging issue worked in getting your windows to work..i had a feeling it might work. Kinda sad we gotta bang on our d's to get them to work. Build quality has come along way since gen1 durangos..thank god.

also ldspencer001..i make sure whenever I get in my d, I roll the rear windows up and down a few times just to keep the motors running in good order and the tracks smooth. I think the window motors on these gen1 durangos tend to "stick" from time to time.

yeah I never had to bang on the doors. don't know what it was but they started working again and are going strong now. I put the regulator in the front door today and looking at the old one there is no way that the cable could have been fixed. don't know how a cable can get bound inside the motor and be tied in knot and still be connected to the motor. now that window is working like a charm along with the rest.

now they are back to not working again. I went and tried a new master switch and it did the same thing. the guy at the parts store said that it sounded like an electrical issue but he wasn't sure. I do know that when the green lights on the door switches are lit you can roll the windows down but when they are not lit you can't roll them down. does that make any since. the green lights on the master switch are always lit just the ones on the doors. could it be a bad window switch on on of the doors. this is getting anoning only have one window switch that works. it is just the windows. both door lock switches work great and are always lit.
