Go Magnaflow! Your 10 yr old ride deserves it!

Can only afford to upgrade the muffler right now. Advance Auto has a Magnaflow that is a good bit cheaper than the Flowmaster. How does the Magnaflow sound? Why do you recommend it over the Flowmaster?

Sound? One mans great is another mans crap. Go to their web site and listen to the audio clips.

Why? I've always been a Mario Andretti fan. ... and it's really good stuff.

Thanks for the advice...local muffler shop wanted $160 for the Flowmaster 40, installed ... the Magnaflow muffler is listed at Autozone for less than $60.

I know that Flowmaster makes several different series...looks like the Magnaflow has just one type to choose from, correct?

I believe that to be true. I've had both. To me, Flowmaster makes the kids mufflers (loud and cheap) and Magnaflow makes them for adults (sophisticated sound and reliable).

I have the Flowmaster 40 (Regular) installed on my 98' 5.9L. I got it because I paid only $100 and had it installed, welded, and the rest of my exhaust replaced for free behind the cat. I thought a had a good deal, since the same thing for the magma flow exhaust was $160 or $180 for me, something like that. I'm cheap, lol. I'm not a big exhaust guy, but it's 'alright'. It turns a few heads, but it's pretty raspy, I wish i could have it sounding a bit more smooth.

The cost of the magnaflow is partly dependent on the size and configuration of the case. I got one from summit for about $90 I think. 22" case, 28" overall iirc. I got one of the bigger ones in attempt to keep noise levels respectable.

I've been listening to sound clips for the past couple weeks and I ran into the Flowmaster Force II Series. Doesn't sound too loud or too obnoxious IMHO. Doesn't sound like it will drone into the cabin either. It's a 70 series muffler which is supposed to be in between.
