R/T out the Gate...

Just thought I would give my opinion on those Gatorback belts. I have had 2 of them over the years and both seemed to not last nearly as long as a standard solid belt so I concluded that due to the fact the Gatorback only has roughly half the belt surface area they wear out faster. Could it just be a Gimmick? Anybody else ever felt like they were getting half a belt with Gatorback?

Both mine looked ok but started squealing in less than 2 years, after the first one I assumed it couldn't be the belt and that it had to be bad pulleys so I installed a pulley kit and it still squealed. I installed the 2nd Gatorback, again less than 2yrs and it started squealing again. Changed to a conventional belt design and now just over 2yrs still no squeal. This led me to believe the belts were wearing out prematurely due to less wearing surface with the Gatorback design.

those gatorbacks are a joke. I never purchased the cheap belts but always the common brand name (I forget what one for the Durango). Mine is now two years old and still looks new. This is with my semi annual inspection of my rig and the fact it just sits (2k miles this year).
But yeah, those gatorbacks are a joke I think - does the same thing as the other ones just less surface area and higher price tag!

FYI the bigger tire you put on yoru durango = the faster the front end will wear out. The front ends on the durango are made for a power wheels. Highly recomended you don’t go past a 33” tire (recomended by Dodge). I have 32.5” tires and no rubbing but they fill in nice.
Being your durango is an inch lower, you MAY have rubbing issues.

2013 ram 1500 r/t for $26,799. Or if too rich for your blood the ram express at $21,399
Unless you put a supercharger on you're really just wasting money on more levels than one such as minimal power gains that make you feel good but really don't do much performance wise. And more gas wasted cause you think you're inspector gadget with your go go power pack.
