I've heard (not sure if it's true) that they really castrate the new trucks to protect their warranty interests so people are not doing burnout left and right and screwing things up. I think a good tuner would solve it and really open things up.
The reason for the restrictions is because simply put.. it’s safer.
For example, in my Titan, only 50% of engine power is sent to the rear wheels up to 28mph (4x4) or 45mph (2wd).
I could with ease do a burnout up through 2nd gear. However when the restriction is removed, given how much low end power there is - you’d pretty much be spinning tire every time you left a red light unless you were realllllly easy on the gas.
Another fun fact - when the brake is pressed, only 10% of engine power is sent to the rear wheels. Thus making power braking a thing of the past. However, great for climbing hills and towing on hills.

Thats why our Durangos came optional with AWD, so those magnum motors dont roast the tires constantly. LOL
Yea they didn't have gobs of powers, but enough for my needs, At least for now. More power is always tempting.
Eh.. when you get older power isn’t all that anymore. Sure you still have fun (I’ve been known to press the pedal pretty hard on the 2012 Ram) but for the most part.. it’s just eh.
It is nice racing some punk kids though and putting them in their place.
Or like this hot chick in a nissan sentra I raced today in my Fusion. I wouldn’t call it a race.. more like me toying with her. But she was a good sport about it (or trying to get my number..)
